The S58 Engine
BMW's S58 powers the G80 M3, G82 M4, and X3M/X4M Competition. It's a twin-turbo 3.0L inline-six that makes 473-503hp from the factory.
Oil Changes
We recommend 5,000-mile oil change intervals with a quality 0W-30 or 5W-30 fully synthetic. The S58 runs hot and the turbos put extra stress on the oil.
Cooling System
Check your coolant level regularly. The S58 cooling system works hard, especially on track. We recommend a coolant flush every 30,000 miles.
Common Issues
Early S58 engines had some reports of crank hub issues under extreme load. If you're planning high-power builds (600+ whp), talk to us about preventive measures.
